Runners-up of this competition, they’ll be looking to go one step further in 2023/24, and we take a look back at some of their best outings in the competition.

2014/15: Runners-up

Edinburgh best campaign was also their first time getting out the pool stage, as the Scottish side topped their pool to reach the quarter-final.

They faced London Irish away from home, bur fought to a 23-18 victory at the Majeski Stadium to book a semi-final against Dragons RFC at Murrayfield. There the Scots roared to victory in a 45-16 thriller, becoming the first side to reach a major EPCR final.

Unfortunately, victory was not to be for Edinburgh who lost 19-13 to Gloucester Rugby. Sam Hidalgo-Clyne ended as the tournaments top points scorer, with Edinburgh teammate Lloyd Williams also top try scorer.

2016/17: Quarter-final

Topping their pool, Edinburgh went through the first knockout stage in 2016/17 to face current Heineken Champions Cup holders Stade Rochelais in the quarter-finals.

Despite home advantage, the French side proved too much for the Scots who fell to a 32-22 loss.

2021-22: Quarter-final

Their most recent foray into the EPCR Challenge Cup, Edinburgh topped a pool which also featured Saracens to make it to the knockouts.

They first got through a Round of 16 tie against Bath Rugby, winning 41-19 and scoring six tries- Emiliano Boffelli crossing twice.

But a quarter-final against Wasps proved too much for the Scottish side, who narrowly lost 34-30 at home.

Edinburgh Rugby will be back in the EPCR Challenge Cup for the upcoming campaign, having reached the Round of 16 in the Heineken Champions Cup last season in their last outing in EPCR competition.
