There is arguably no bigger signing for the forthcoming season than mercurial Scottish international and British & Irish Lions fly-half Finn Russell, whose move to Bath Rugby from Racing 92 was confirmed way back in December.

The 30-year-old's playmaking ability and outstanding kicking game, both from foot and tee, have seen him become one of the most lauded players in the northern hemisphere.

All together, Russell has amassed 242 points in EPCR’s elite competition, the majority with Glasgow Warriors, his first club, for whom he made 24 appearances - with his debut coming against his new team in October 2014 - and was their main goalkicker.

In 2018 he switched to the TOP 14 and was one of the main reasons Racing reached the knockout stages of the Heineken Champions Cup in four successive seasons, with the highlight being 2019/20, when they were edged out 31-27 by Exeter Chiefs in the final.

After 68 points in 29 games for Racing, Russell has returned to the UK with Bath, where he will be joined by fellow new signing Thomas du Toit, a World Cup winner with South Africa in 2019.

The 28-year-old prop, who can play at tight head or loose head, provides another strong ball-carrying option for Bath, as well as being a destructive force in the scrum.

He has nine appearances in the EPCR top-flight to date – three with Munster Rugby in 2016/17, a replacement appearance with Stade Toulousain in 2019/20 and then five with Cell C Sharks last season, when the South African side marked their debut in the tournament by reaching the quarter-finals.
