Leinster Rugby flanker Josh van der Flier is in contention for a second consecutive EPCR Player of the Year award after his terrific form continued in the Heineken Champions Cup pool stage.
The Ireland international was named the 2022 EPCR Player of the Year accolade after helping Leinster to the Heineken Champions Cup final, and he is among the nominees again in 2023.
Van der Flier is the leading try scorer heading into the knockout stage of this season’s competition, crossing in each of Leinster’s four Pool A wins – home and away against Racing 92 and Gloucester Rugby – including a brace in Round 1.
His tally of five scores is just one shy of the total he managed across the entirety of the 2021/22 Heineken Champions Cup, and Leinster will hope that he can add to that haul when they host Ulster Rugby in Dublin in the Round of 16 on April 1.
