Stade Toulousain reiterated their value for a sixth Heineken Champions Cup title this season as they battled to a 39-35 win at Racing 92 on Sunday to solidify their position at the summit of the TOP 14.

Toulouse host Vodacom Bulls in the Heineken Champions Cup Round of 16 on April 2 and will be looking to build momentum ahead of that game as they look to bounce back from last season’s semi-final defeat to Leinster Rugby.

And they have impressed both domestically and in EPCR’s elite competition this campaign – Sunday’s victory was their 14th from 20 games in the TOP 14 after they recorded four wins from four in the Heineken Champions Cup pool stage.

Toulouse were without many of their France internationals for the trip to Racing but crossed for five tries, through Dimitri Delibes (2), Peato Mauvaka, Emmanuel Meafou and Paul Graou.

The visitors needed to work hard for their victory and were under pressure over the closing exchanges, but an additional 14 points from the boot of Melvyn Jaminet ultimately proved decisive.
