Stade Rochelais captain Grégory Alldritt prepares to hand off an opponent
Stade Rochelais No.8 Grégory Alldritt is once again among the nominees for the EPCR Player of the Year award, after starring in the defending champions’ march to the top of Pool B and a Round of 16 home tie against Gloucester Rugby on April 1.
The French international notched 63 carries in La Rochelle’s four pool matches to lie third in that category heading into the knockout stage and is also in the top 10 of turnovers after pulling off six.
The 25-year-old’s all-court game, combining power and skill, from the base of the scrum helped the TOP 14 club to doubles over Northampton Saints and Ulster Rugby, with Northampton in particular experiencing Alldritt’s qualities, as he scored a try in each game against the English club.
The winner of the award, which is now in its 13th year, will receive the Anthony Foley Memorial Trophy in memory of the former Munster Rugby Head Coach and captain. Voting is now open HERE and fans will be in the running to win two VIP tickets with one night’s accommodation for the Heineken Champions Cup Final in May 2024.
At the conclusion of the semi-final matches in April, the list will be reduced to five players by a combination of the public vote and the verdict of the judges. Players who have not been included in the initial longlist, but who make a significant impact during the knockout stages of the Heineken Champions Cup and EPCR Challenge Cup, may be considered for the shortlist.
The voting will then re-open and the winner of the 2023 award will be announced following the Heineken Champions Cup Final at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Saturday 20 May.
Captaining @staderochelais to an unbeaten defence of their title so far 👏
And set to star for @FranceRugby in #SixNations 🔥
