After an impressive debut EPCR campaign last season, Glasgow Warriors’ Jack Dempsey has been handed his first start for Scotland as they face Argentina in the Autumn Nations Series at BT Murrayfield on Saturday.

Former Waratahs man Dempsey, who played the entirety of Glasgow’s 2021-22 Heineken Champions Cup pool stage campaign, as well as the full 80 minutes in their EPCR Challenge Cup Round of 16 defeat to Lyon, starts at No.8 after coming off the bench in Scotland’s previous three Tests this Autumn.

The Australian-born 28-year-old is one of six Glasgow players in the starting team, with hooker Fraser Brown, prop Zander Fagerson and flanker Matt Fagerson joining him in the pack while Ali Price is at scrum-half and Sione Tuipulotu is at inside centre.

George Turner, Jamie Bhatti and Murphy Walker are further Glasgow representatives among the replacements, with Bath Rugby’s Cameron Redpath, who is another set to feature in this season’s EPCR Challenge Cup, also on the bench.

Meanwhile, Matias Orlando has replaced Newcastle Falcons teammate Matias Moroni at outside centre for Argentina, with Stade Français Paris’ veteran fly-half Nicolas Sanchez back among the replacements after a four-month injury lay-off.
