Christophe Urios led Bordeaux to the Heineken Champions Cup Round of 16 last season
Union Bordeaux-Bègles have announced the termination of head coach Christophe Urios’ contract by ‘mutual agreement’, with forwards coach Julien Laïrle and backs coach Frédéric Charrier taking over.
Frenchman Urios joined the TOP 14 club ahead of the 2019-20 season and guided them to the EPCR Challenge Cup semi-finals.
The following year he led Bordeaux to the Heineken Champions Cup semi-finals, losing out 21-9 to domestic rivals Stade Toulousain.
They reached the Heineken Champions Cup knockout stage again last season but went down 62-36 on aggregate to eventual winners Stade Rochelais in the Round of 16.
Urios leaves with Bordeaux 11th in the TOP 14 with four wins from their opening 10 games and less than a month before their Heineken Champions Cup Pool A campaign kicks off at Gloucester Rugby on December 10.
