We’ve taken a look at the best of Saturday’s domestic action involving EPCR Challenge Cup clubs, with Glasgow Warriors overpowering Heineken Champions Cup newcomers Vodacom Bulls the pick of the games.

Five-try Glasgow outclass Vodacom Bulls

Glasgow produced a terrific display at Scotstoun Stadium as they saw off Vodacom Bulls 35-21 in the United Rugby Championship (URC).

The EPCR Challenge Cup Pool A side had secured the bonus point before the break, with Matt Fagerson, Sebastian Cancelliere, Scott Cummings and George Horne all going over.

Josh McKay added a fifth try in the second half, with Horne kicking all five conversions to notch a match tally of 15 points for the hosts.

Cardiff triumph at Scarlets

Elsewhere in the URC, Cardiff Rugby battled to a 16-10 victory in an all-EPCR Challenge Cup Welsh derby against Scarlets.

Tomos Williams’ try – converted by Jarrod Evans, who also kicked a penalty – gave the visitors a 10-3 interval lead, with Leigh Halfpenny’s penalty Scarlets’ only points of the first half.

Evans added two more penalties after the break and although Johnny McNicholl got a converted try for Scarlets, they had Vaea Fifita sent off for a dangerous clearout and so their hopes of a comeback fizzled out.

Bayonne stun Stade Rochelais

In the TOP 14, EPCR Challenge Cup side Aviron Bayonnais pulled off a shock home win as they overcame last season’s Heineken Champions Cup winners, Stade Rochelais, 29-13 at Stade Jean-Dauger.

Gaëtan Germain racked up 19 points for the hosts as he scored their second try, kicked four penalties and added a conversion.

Sireli Maqala and Guillaume Martocq grabbed the other tries for Bayonne as they took another Heineken Champions Cup scalp, having beaten Racing 92 and Union Bordeaux-Bègles already this season.

Toulon thrash Brive

RC Toulon, last season’s EPCR Challenge Cup runners-up, ran in seven tries as they cruised to a 47-0 home whitewash of CA Brive.

Waisea Nayacalevu (2), Cheslin Kolbe, Duncan Paia’aua, Charles Ollivon, Aymeric Luc and Sergio Parisse dotted down for the hosts as they brushed aside a team joining them in EPCR Challenge Cup Pool A this campaign.

Stade Français crush USAP

Stade Français Paris also enjoyed a huge home win as Giorgi Melikidze and JJ van der Mesch both scored braces in a 52-3 drubbing of fellow EPCR Challenge Cup side USAP.

Sefa Naivalu, Sekou Macalou, Paul Gabrillagues and Kylan Hamdaoui were the hosts’ other try-scorers, with a Jake McIntyre penalty the only response for USAP on a dismal afternoon in Paris.
