Wasps centre Malakai Fekitoa has set up a fundraising effort to help those affected by the devastating tsunami in Tonga – he has asked for any donations, no matter how big or small.

The tsunami, triggered by an undersea volcanic eruption, has caused widespread damage across Tonga’s islands, destroying communication lines and leaving Fekitoa – like many others – unable to contact his family.

The 29-year-old has already raised over £40,000 online as he seeks to deliver aid to his homeland.

“I’ve decided to start a fundraiser to hopefully get supplies and everything that people need to get back on their feet,” Fekitoa said.

“I know a lot of people have already reached out and helped so far, so thank you, and we’re really grateful for your support.”

Bristol Bears back Charles Piutau has also set up a fundraising page to help support Tongan communities affected by the tsunami – you can donate by clicking HERE.

Hosea Saumaki is another player to have kickstarted a fundraiser – donate to the Leicester Tigers winger’s campaign HERE.
