Exeter Chiefs director of rugby Rob Baxter says his team must recreate a similar performance to that of Glasgow Warriors in Round 2 if they are to triumph against the Scottish region in the Heineken Champions Cup today.

Glasgow produced an excellent display last month as they claimed a 22-7 win over Exeter in Pool A, dominating the 2020 winners for large spells of the game at Scotstoun Stadium.

Baxter has asserted that the Sandy Park faithful will be well up for the Round 3 encounter if Exeter can match the intensity their opponents played at in their previous meeting.

“They are a good side, full of internationals and players who have played at the highest level,” he told Exeter’s website.

“As I said, they played well against us in the previous fixture and they won a lot of the physical battles which, if you do that in most games, you normally tend to come out on top.

“What we have to do this weekend is flip that scenario on its head, whilst at the same time create a performance that gets the crowd behind us and creates a level of intensity and passion which they had at their place.

“For now, we have to focus our attentions on Glasgow and making sure we get as much as we can from this weekend’s game.”

Baxter assured that Exeter have put the defeat to Glasgow behind them and that they still have the opportunity to get their Heineken Champions Cup campaign back on track.

“We have played away to Glasgow before and not come away with much and that’s not been the be all and end all of our European season,” he added.

“We have learnt from those games and quickly moved on – and that’s what we need to do again this weekend.”
