Former European Rugby Challenge Cup winner Ugo Monye hailed the talents of Toulouse wing Cheslin Kolbe ahead of the Heineken Champions Cup final on Saturday, describing the 27-year-old as a “superstar”.
Toulouse go in search of a record-breaking fifth European crown on Saturday on the hallowed turf of Twickenham when they face fellow TOP 14 outfit La Rochelle.
South African Kolbe has enjoyed a fruitful 2020/21 campaign, helping his side to the final of Europe’s premier club competition with some outstanding displays, including a Heineken Star of the Match performance against Ulster Rugby in the pool stage.

And Monye believes Kolbe can be the difference-maker for the perennial European powerhouse in the showpiece final.
“He is a game changer,” lauded Monye on BT Sport’s Rugby Tonight programme.
“He fights way above his weight. I think Kolbe is an inspiration in his own right because at 5″8, he has sparkling feet and has an ability to make international rugby players look amateur – that is a skill in itself.”
Monye likened the Toulouse man to his former international teammate Jason Robinson – himself a two-time Challenge Cup winner with Sale Sharks.
“He is one of the most devastating runners of the ball, not just now I think we have ever seen,” Monye added.
“We can liken him to Jason Robinson, he is a superstar.”
