A back-to-back game between Italian outfit Zebra Rugby and French side Bayonne at the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi ended in a 25-25 draw.

Zebre took the lead inside a minute before the visitors replied with a converted try and two penalties to take a 13-5 lead. The Italians responded with 13 unanswered points to lead 18-3 before the visiting Frenchmen levelled the score at 18 early in the second half.

Bayonne re-took the lead through a converted Maime Delonca, but Zebre would not be held off as they tied the game for third time through Matteo Nocera. The truly wonderful game for the neutral fan.

Last-gasp Erbani try sinks Worcester Warriors

Another enthralling encounter that was decided at the last as French side Pau overcame Worcester Warriors 24-20 at the Stade du Hameau.

With just two minutes remaining on the clock, Worcester led by three points thanks to a Jamie Shillcock penalty. His counterpart Clovis Le Bail missed a 70th minute kick at goal to level the game at 20-20, but the drama was yet to unfold.

Erbani was the catalyst for the late triumph as he rumbled over for the go-ahead try to jubilant scenes at the final whistle on the continent.

Worcester woes continue in Round 2

The Warriors suffered the same fate a week later during their Round 2 matchup against Ospreys – losing out 38-29.

The English hosts had led for the majority of the game on the back of four tries and nine points from the boot of Shillcock.

Unfortunately for the Gallagher Premiership side George North’s 73rd minute try – coupled with eight points in the final ten minutes from fly-half Stephen Myler - gave the Welsh region victory in a stunning late comeback.

Falcons battle back to win in France

Newcastle Falcons produced a memorable comeback against French side Castres Olympique to win 26-17 at the Stade Pierre Fabre - with a star born in Falcons’ replacement winger Chidera Obonna.

Trailing 10-9 when Obonna was introduced, the 20-year-old academy product was involved in all three Falcons tries and truly was the catalyst for the Friday night success as they kept their hopes of advancing from the preliminary stage alive.
