Jack Nowell’s try for Exeter Chiefs in the win over Castres Olympique gained the approval of Virgin Media Sport analyst Shane Horgan to win Champions Try of the Round last weekend.

James Johnstone’s spectacular score for Edinburgh in Toulon edged the public vote but the expert pick went in favour of the wing, who was making his comeback from injury.

Horgan added: “Jack Nowell announced his return to the Exeter team after injury with a superb individual try that showed he hasn’t lost any of his trademark speed or footwork. This try capped a man of the match performance just in time for the Six Nations.”

Other tries chosen by our team of experts included Jacob Stockdale’s second try for Ulster, Olivier Klemenczak’s score in the same match for Racing 92 and Dave Kearney’s acrobatic try for Leinster against Toulouse.

The competition will continue after Round 6 on this page.
