An independent Appeal Committee will reconvene on Friday, 20 April to decide on the appeal lodged by Leicester Tigers prop forward Marcos Ayerza.

The appeal was against the decision of the independent Disciplinary Committee who suspended the player for three weeks as a result of a citing arising from the Heineken Cup quarter-final match against Stade Francais Paris at Welford Road, on Sunday, 1 April.

The independent Appeal Committee, comprises Professor Lorne Crerar, Rod McKenzie (both Scotland) and Dr Barry O’Driscoll (Ireland).

The independent Disciplinary Committee had found Mr Ayerza guilty of striking Stade Français Paris back row forward Remy Martin and the Committee suspended the player for a period of three weeks up to and including 30 April, 2007. The player was also ordered to pay the costs of the hearing.
