Ireland fly-half Johnny Sexton kicked seven penalties as Leinster Rugby secured a 24-19 victory over Munster Rugby at Dublin's Aviva Stadium on this day in 2011.

Sexton and former Ireland team-mate Ronan O’Gara exchanged penalties in the first half, with the former giving 2009 and 2011 European Cup winners Leinster a six-point lead at the interval.

Despite Munster being awarded a late penalty try, it wasn’t enough as Sexton kicked a further two penalties to add to a Rob Kearney drop-goal, securing the victory in front of a 48,365 crowd.

Sexton, 32, has won three European Cups with Leinster, the other one coming in 2012, when they beat Ulster Rugby 42-14 in the final at Twickenham.

This season Leinster have made a perfect start to their European Rugby Champions Cup campaign with two bonus-point wins over Glasgow Warriors and Montpellier in Pool 3.

O’Gara retired in 2013 and is now defence coach at Racing 92, who sit third in Pool 4 behind Leicester Tigers and his former side, Munster.
