Etienne Fourcade’s try for ASM Clermont Auvergne against Leicester Tigers last Friday has been named as the Champions Try of the Round for Round 3 of the Heineken Champions Cup.

The hooker finished off a flowing move by the TOP 14 club in their 44-29 defeat at the Stade Marcel-Michelin and was the first choice of Rodolphe Pirès (beIN SPORTS), as well as second in a fans’ vote.

“I have chosen the Clermont try because it shows the players’ capacity to ‘recycle’ the ball with their hands from the back of the field, especially thanks to the individual efforts of Alivereti Raka,” Pirès said.

“In addition, this try needs to be highlighted as it perfectly illustrates the need for a controlled redistribution of the ball.”

Fourcade’s score beat some stunning efforts from Cadan Murley (Harlequins), Matt Scott (Leicester Tigers), Marnus Potgieter (Cell C Sharks) and Justin Tipuric (Ospreys).
