Stade Français Paris’ EPCR Challenge Cup hopes have been boosted after veteran fly-half Nicolas Sanchez was recalled by Argentina for the first time since suffering a calf tear in July.

With Sanchez having tallied 150 points in 26 games in EPCR competitions, his return to action will be a huge bonus for Stade Français ahead of their Pool B opener against Benetton Rugby on December 9.

The 34-year-old has been called up to the Los Pumas squad prior to their Test against Scotland at BT Murraryfield on Saturday and is expected to add to his 90 caps.

Sanchez enjoyed a fine Heineken Champions Cup last season, notching 31 points as Stade Français reached the Round of 16, though his most prolific EPCR campaign came in the 2013/14 Challenge Cup with Union Bordeaux-Bègles, when he racked up 34 across three games.
