Throughout its storied history, Europe’s premier club tournament has been graced by many of the game’s truly outstanding players and with enduring excellence in mind, EPCR has put together a brand new strand of online content to celebrate the Legends of the Heineken Champions Cup.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll focus on 50 top players who have made a lasting impact on the tournament with their all-round brilliance, their try-scoring prowess, their leadership or with their sheer durability over a number of seasons.

Legendary figures such as the Toulouse try-machine, Vincent Clerc, Leinster Rugby’s talismanic Brian O’Driscoll, Jonny Wilkinson who was at the heart of RC Toulon’s period of dominance, the great Thierry Dusautoirand the freakishly talented Maro Itoje who continues to raise the performance bar, will all feature.

We have chosen video clips of five legends for each of the 10 positions – fullback, wing, centre, fly-half, scrum-half, prop, hooker, second row, flanker and No 8 – all in action during the tournament, so you can feast your eyes on a whole series of riveting moments from the archives.

We’ll be kicking off this afternoon with the five legendary full-backs featuring classic contributions from Brive’s Sébastien Viars, Clément Poitrenaud of Toulouse, the Leinster pair of Rob Kearney and Isa Nacewa, as well Saracens’ Alex Goode.

Engage with some exceptional content from Heineken Champions Cup Legends through the official social media channels of the tournament.
