We have again teamed up with Superbru this season to bring you our Heineken Champions Cup Fantasy Rugby game, so here are four players who could be worth considering in Round 2, which starts on Friday evening with Scarlets’ home tie against RC Toulon live on BT Sport and beIN SPORTS.
Kotaro Matsushima (ASM Clermont Auvergne)
The Japan flyer shares top spot in the Heineken Champions Cup try-scorers’ list with Xavier Mignot after being involved in the 12-try extravaganza at Bristol Bears. With four tries now in just two European appearances for Clermont, he must be a good tip for further points at home to Munster Rugby on Saturday and to challenge Mignot’s lead in the Superbru Fantasy Rugby table.
Kurtley Beale (Racing 92)
The veteran Australia back was here, there and everywhere in Racing’s heart-stopping 26-22 home victory over Connacht Rugby, heading the Round 1 list for metres made (152) as well as appearing in the top five for carries (16) and clean breaks (5). Sunday’s game at Harlequins offers the 31-year-old another chance to boost his Superbru Fantasy Rugby points tally.
Grégory Alldritt (La Rochelle)
The La Rochelle No.8 has to be worth a punt in Round 2 after an extraordinary performance in the French club’s 13-8 victory at Edinburgh Rugby last weekend, where he executed 23 carries – five more than anyone else in Round 1. Bath Rugby will not be looking forward to facing the French international on Saturday at Stade Marcel Deflandre.
Alex Wootton (Connacht Rugby)
Wootton is the surprise figure in the Superbru Fantasy Rugby top 10 of outside backs after Round 1 on 19 points, but the 26-year-old made his presence felt in Connacht’s narrow defeat at Racing by making 116 metres and now has a chance to add to that in the Irish province’s home game against Bristol Bears on Sunday.
