Round 3 of the European Rugby Challenge Cup features some interesting clashes, including one that brings back memories of the knockout stages two years ago.
Pool 1: Worcester Warriors v Dragons
There promises to be little between these two sides in December in the first of their back-to-back fixtures, if past form is anything to go by.
Their head-to-head is deadlocked at 1-1, with Worcester having won their first meeting 33-20 at Sixways in December 2016, only for the Newport team to hit back a week later 22-7.
Pool 3: Edinburgh Rugby v Wasps
Neutrals will be hoping for a repeat of these teams’ first encounter in 2005, when Edinburgh edged a thriller 32-31 at BT Murrayfield in the European Cup.
Their three other meetings have all gone Wasps’ way, with the English club completing the double in 2008/9, also in the European Cup.
Pool 4: Bristol Bears v Stade Français Paris
Stade will be seeking their first point in Bristol when they arrive at Ashton Gate in December, having lost 17-0 on their only previous visit in 2007 in the European Cup.
The Parisian club gained their revenge with a 19-11 success at Stade Jean Bouin, so will home territory again prove the difference this time?
Pool 5: Cardiff Blues v Pau
Pau were Cardiff Blues’ semi-final opponents in their Challenge Cup-winning season of 2017/18, the Welsh region winning 16-10.
That victory made it three from three in the head-to-head, as Cardiff had won both their meetings the previous campaign in Pool 4.
