ASM Clermont Auvergne are chasing a European and domestic double after defeating Lyon 33-13 in the TOP 14 semi-finals last weekend in Bordeaux.

That win comes after their 36-16 victory in the Challenge Cup final last month, seeing off fellow French side La Rochelle at St. James’ Park in convincing fashion.

The domestic success last weekend means they are now one match away from a third TOP 14 title, but will have to get past Heineken Champions Cup semi-finalists Toulouse in the final on Saturday at the Stade de France to do so.

Speaking after the semi-final victory, Clermont head coach Franck Azéma highlighted the rare opportunity to secure two trophies in one season.

“You always have stress on the road to the final but so far it has gone well,” Azema said. “It’s important to pass tests like that. The whole group have been rewarded and given a chance to play a final in Paris and put themselves in a position to win another title.”

Clermont fly-half Camille Lopez – who scored six points in their Challenge Cup semi-final win over Harlequins – added that his side will not be thinking about their 47-44 defeat last month to Saturday’s opponents when they face off this weekend.

“It is a dream final against Toulouse with the two best teams in France,” said the 30-year-old. “What matters to us is how we have played throughout the season, not what happened when we played against them.

“We have a week to prepare and recover well in order to be as fresh as possible next week and give everything over the 80 minutes.”

Both sides will be in the Heineken Champions Cup next season due to their final league position in the TOP 14. The pool stage draw for the 2019/20 Heineken Champions Cup will take place at the Centre de Congrès Beaulieu in Lausanne, Switzerland on Wednesday 19 June. For more details, click HERE.
