Northampton Saints hooker Dylan Hartley has been ruled out of the Heineken Cup semi-final on Sunday after being cited on three counts of alleged foul play against London Wasps in last weekend’s Guinness Premiership clash at Adams Park.

The front row man has been charged with three offences contrary to Law 10.4 (k) after a report from the independent citing officer Alan Mansell. The citing officer has called Hartley to answer charges of illegally making contact with the eye or eye areas of London Wasps’ forwards Jonny O’Connor, Joe Worsley and James Haskell with his.

Hartley will appear before a Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel on Tuesday April 24 2007 at the offices of the Judge Advocate General, 81 Chancery Lane, Holborn, London (3.00pm). The panel will comprise RFU Disciplinary Officer His Honour Judge Jeff Blackett (chairman), Jeff Probyn and Jeremy Summers.

Hartley attended an internal disciplinary meeting with Northampton Saints on Thursday and the outcome will be released by the club.

Under RFU rules a player isn’t able to play in any competition between the time he has been cited and his hearing.
