An independent Disciplinary Committee heard a citing complaint in Dublin today against Marcos Ayerza, the Leicester Tigers prop forward.
An independent Disciplinary Committee heard a citing complaint in Dublin today (Tuesday, 10 April) against Marcos Ayerza, the Leicester Tigers prop forward, as a result of a citing arising from the Heineken Cup quarter-final match against Stade Francais Paris at Welford Road, on Sunday, 1 April.
The citing lodged by the Citing Commissioner for the match, Rob Flockhart (Scotland), was for alleged punching / striking – contravention of Law 10.4 (a).
The independent Disciplinary Committee was chaired by Mark McParland (Ireland) and also comprised Peter Brown (Scotland) and George Spotswood (Ireland).
The independent Disciplinary Committee found Mr Ayerza guilty of striking Stade Français Paris back row forward Remy Martin and the Committee suspended the player for a period of three weeks up to and including 30 April, 2007. The player was also ordered to pay the costs of the hearing.
Both parties have the right to appeal.
