Ulster scrum-half Isaac Boss has been ruled out of his province’s Heineken Cup clash with Llanelli Scarlets this weekend after damaging his shoulder…

The 26-year-old picked up a shoulder injury in Ulster’s win over Glasgow last Saturday and a scan has revealed deep bruising, which keeps him out of this weekend’s all-important clash.

The former Chiefs No 9 suffered severe trauma to the AC joint in his right shoulder with extensive soft tissue damage and bony brusing to the joint.

Ulster medics are unsure when the livewire halfback will be back playing, but it is hoped he will be in contention for Ireland’s Six Nations opener against Wales in February.
