With 131 points to his credit Leinster’s Felipe Contepomi is the top scorer of the 2005/06 Heineken Cup tournament.
Munster’s Ronan O’Gara was runner up with an impressive 115 points, with Andy Goode of Leicester Tigers in third place with 99 points.
The Leinster number 10 was also joint top try scorer for the season, alongside Vincent Clerc and Sereli Bobo, scoring 6 tries each.
The Argentinean began his European rugby career with Bristol Shoguns in 2000. Following two seasons in the European Challenge Cup, Bristol qualified for the Heineken Cup giving Contepomi the opportunity to be seen by some of Europe’s top rugby clubs.
In 2004 the out-half kicked off his career with Leinster. The 29 year-old has made his presence felt in the team by scoring 150 points in 13 appearances in the Heineken Cup over the past two seasons.
Perhaps it will be third season lucky for Contepomi as Leinster prepare for the 2006/07 Heineken Cup tournament.
