Cardiff is gearing up for a multi-national rugby-fest in May, as Basque, French, Irish and British sports fans head to the Welsh capital for the 2006 Heineken Cup Final.
Over 50,000 tickets for the Munster-Biarritz showdown were snapped up before the finalists were even decided, and over 80,000 fans are expected in the city centre on match day.
Cheryl Clarke, manager of the Cardiff Tourist Information Centre, said; “The Millennium Stadium has become a popular venue with rugby fans thanks to its city centre location, as dozens of bars, restaurants and attractions are only a short walk away.
“As most Cardiff hotels are fully booked, however, we are advising any fans who haven’t yet booked accommodation to look for self-catering accommodation or hotels in towns such as Chepstow, Merthyr Tydfil and Swansea, which are all within easy reach of Cardiff.”
