History will be made in 2018 when the European professional club rugby finals are played in Spain for the first time (11-12 May).

Bilbao's San Mamés Stadium will open its doors to the showpiece matches of the European Rugby Champions Cup and Challenge Cup and the Continental Shield final will also take place in the Basque city as the expansion of the sport into new and emerging markets across Europe gathers pace.

The recently-renovated arena is the home of soccer's Athletic Club and will host matches at the UEFA EURO 2020 tournament too. The strength of their bid was bolstered by a collaborative approach between a number of local and regional stakeholders.

During the highly successful European finals weekend in Edinburgh, ticket sales were launched for the landmark 2018 matches in Bilbao.

Tickets are already selling strongly, however, EPCR is aware that a small number of fans have had difficulties completing their purchases via epcrugby.com and we are currently working to resolve this. We are also adding a detailed map of the San Mamés stadium as well as further information to enable fans to choose their ticket categories more easily.

While EPCR regrets that some supporters of European club rugby have been temporarily inconvenienced, we are looking forward to continued ticket sales and to an outstanding finals weekend in Bilbao in May of next year.
